Here at Stonyhurst pastoral care is extremely important. The health and well-being of our students is something that we are always thinking about.

To guarantee very close supervision and care for all our students, Stonyhurst Language School employs dedicated welfare staff who are experienced in all aspects of student care. This includes a Director of Pastoral Care, House Parents and Night Duty staff in each of our accommodation areas.

All staff are responsible for the pastoral care of students and are provided with information about the overall supervision of students and procedures by the Course Director, Director of Pastoral Care and Designated Safeguarding Lead, during their induction.

Stonyhurst’s accommodation and classrooms are all in one site which means that we can supervise the students very closely.  There are almost no occasions when the children are not under supervision by the Language School staff and procedures are in place to assess these situations.

Your child can talk to his or her teachers/activity leaders throughout the course and with the help of our Director of Pastoral Care and House Parents we offer individual support, answer questions and resolve any educational or pastoral issues as and when needed.

Although we hope that your child will be healthy throughout his or her stay, if they have an accident or illness, we always have fully qualified first-aiders working at all times and we also have a nurse available for two hours every day to help any of our students if they need it.

There are also two minor injury drop-in centres close by, a local health centre and dentist in Clitheroe (10 minutes drive) and several hospitals which are close, in the unlikely event that we need them.
